Some interesting stuff happening soon:

FEL will sell zines together with Vrouwen Overleg Komitee at L-day! Meet us at De Vooruit in Gent this Saturday February the 4th.
ECHO will join FEL‘s infostand at the Alternatieve Boekenbeurs on Saturday March 10th at De Centrale in Gent. FEL will give a workshop there too, about privileges and power.

A message from our sisters of Scumgrrrls magazine:

The trilingual Belgian feminist magazine Scumgrrrls is looking for contributions! We’d like images of all kinds: drawings, comics, illustrations, collages, photography… all black & white. The central theme of this issue will be connections/bridges/links but there will be articles on other subjects as well. Articles we’re writing include:

Ladyfest
Palestine: for the rights of women, against the occupation
The biopolitics of assisted reproduction in Isreal
About the word feminism
Radical feminism and trans feminism

Waar? in DOK: splitsing Koopvaardijlaan en Afrikalaan, in Gent (België)

Programma:

Zaterdag 15 oktober vanaf 12u: workshops over
- zines: wat zijn zines en waarom zines maken? hoe zines maken en verspreiden?
- fictie schrijven en artikels schrijven
- feministische posters ontwerpen
Zondag 16 oktober vanaf 13u: samen een zine maken (of ieder een eigen zine maken)
Doorlopend: enkele infostands met zines (AK, FEL, ECHO, La Choriza), expo met feministische posters

Info:

Zine Fest Gent is een bijeenkomst rond alternatieve media, creativiteit en activisme. Op zaterdag leer je meer over zines (DIY magazines) en over hoe je ze kan maken. Verder zijn er workshops over fictie en over artikels schrijven en gaan we feministische posters ontwerpen. Op zondag gaan we verder aan de slag met tekst en beeld om uiteindelijk samen een zine te maken. Verder zijn er stands met zines om te lezen en/of te kopen en worden enkele bijdragen voor the Feminist Poster Project getoond.

Het Zine Fest is een initiatief van FEL en ECHO. Wees welkom!

Wegbeschrijving:

Neem de trein of bus naar het station Gent Dampoort. Aan de overkant van het stationsgebouw, langs de spoorweg, begint de Koopvaardijlaan. Wandel rechtdoor tot aan de splitsing met de Afrikalaan. Daar ligt DOK. De DOK Kantine ligt aan de rechterkant als je het terrein op wandelt.

A reminder of some cool things that FEL and ECHO will do together in the near future:

Compile a zine about experiences with sexism: contributions are still welcome! Send your texts or artwork to felfeminisme@gmail.com (deadline: September 30th). Read more.
Organise a ZINE FEST on October 15th-16th in Gent! Yes, the first one ever in Gent, as far as I know! There will be several workshops so you’ll learn how to make zines and feminist posters and how to write fiction and articles. We’ll discuss about alternative media, there will be zines for sale (or swapping) and we’ll make a zine together! Read more.
