ZineWriMo 2022 part 2 – zine tools, workshop, grimoire, and how to support zinesters

Week 2 of ZineWriMo 2022 (Zine Writing Month) is almost over so here are some ziney and crafty things I did in the past 7 days: taking photos of my zine tools, teaching a feminist zine workshop, and working on my new art grimoire.

The making of… more witch zines! (+ how to get them in avant-premiere)

In the past few weeks I’ve put the finishing touches on some of new zines.  So you can expect an announcement of their release very soon. I’ve mainly been working on a halloween-themed mini-zine featuring Chainsaw Bunny and several issues of Witches’ Brew – because as you know, tis the season. Here you can see some work-in-progress photos and sneak peeks:

Witchy places in my city – part 2 (botanical garden)

I like exploring the green areas in my city, Ghent (in Belgium). A lot of them have mysterious spots to discover. In part 1 of this series I covered parts of the Citadelpark which has human-made caves and ponds and the secret park/garden hidden in between two shopping streets which offers a space for rest from the city crowds. This blogpost focuses on the Plantentuin, the botanical garden of the University of Ghent.

Witchy places in my city – part I

Something I’ve learned and appreciated since the March 2020 lockdown is exploring my own city, Ghent (in belgium). I’ve walked in so many parks, streets, and neighbourhoods, took so many photos, discovered hidden spots, and enjoyed being a tourist close to home. And I intend to continue doing so. I selected some cards that I think fit for the beginning of the new year: adventures, big dreams, exploring, finding magic everywhere, connecting with your community, colouring outside the lines (also a reference to a zine I love)… Find out more about my plans:

Visiting the Huis van Alijn museum in Ghent

This blog post is a bit late but I still wanted to write a bit and show some photos of my visit to the Huis Van Alijn museum (“House of Alijn”) in Ghent a month ago because I really enjoyed it. Huis Van Alijn is the museum of daily life. It’s a fun museum to explore at any time because the permanent exhibition (which is regularly updated/changed) is well worth a visit and I think it’s a fun activity in these weird times. But I especially wanted to see their current exhibition about protests and parades…

Visiting the Witches exhibition in Brussels

Last week I visited the Witches exhibition in Brussels (Belgium), organised by the ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles). An entire exhibition about witchcraft and witches, I knew in advance that I was gonna enjoy it but it really went beyond my expectations. So I decided to write a little blogpost about my visit and show you some images from the exhibition. The exhibition closes by the end of this week so make sure to visit if you can!
