My plans and dreams for 2022

All the usual new year’s resolutions are so uninteresting, don’t you think? I prefer to make a list of things I would really LIKE to do. How about you? What are your dreams and plans for 2022?

On the image above you can see a hand-made oracle deck that I created myself. I selected some cards that I think fit for the beginning of the new year: adventures, big dreams, exploring, finding magic everywhere, connecting with your community, colouring outside the lines (also a reference to a zine I love)… Find out more about my plans:

All the books I’ve read in 2021

My plan for 2021 was to read at least 21 books and I ended up reading 26. Yay! I know some people probably read double that amount or more but for me this was a very pleasing achievement. Besides, there are people who struggle to read any books at all for a variety of reasons so I’m happy I managed quite well.

When counting, I only included the books I’ve finished reading completely (but I may have started reading some of them before 2021). That includes comic books, children’s books, and cookbooks because, well, they are books. But I’ve also read poetry, a novel/memoir, a zine anthology, books about witchcraft, birds, bringing nature to balconies, and more…

New postcard: moon trees

Best wishes for 2022!

A bit later than usual, here is my brandnew postcard for the holidays and new year! It was inspired by stargazing during a visit to a witch town in September (I went back this month). I’m fascinated by the moon and the stars and always love drawing winter tree branches (without leaves) which shows on the card. And of course, a cat couldn’t be missing… You can decide which herb is growing on the bottom right of the drawing.

The postcard is available to buy by emailing me. 1 postcard = 1 euro + postage

You can also buy my entire collection of 14 postcards in my webshop. (Find some photos of the postcards here). I will soon present a bundle that includes this card and a bunch of mini-zines if you prefer to wait for that.

If you’re interested in seeing more of certain kinds of zines, blogposts, and/or other creations, you can let me know here or on social media. I’m currently into creating herbal bags/charm bags and oracle cards, so who knows what the future will hold! 🙂

All the zines I’ve published in 2021

The end of 2021 is nearby so I’m slowly writing my yearly overview blog posts. Here is the first one:

All the zines I’ve published in 2021:

Lost Luna Zine #1 – an introductionary mini-zine for my solo music project Lost Luna that talks about taking back space and things to do as a musician in lockdown (because when you’re a creative person / doing creative work, surely you can find creative solutions for situations like this).

  • Lost Luna Zine #2 – mini-zine with the lyrics and being-the-song stories of Lost Luna’s debut EP “Shadow Play”.
  • Lost Luna Zine #3 – mini-zine with recommended bands and artists who’ve been inspiring me when home-recording my music.
  • Same Heartbeats #18 – the newest issue of my feminist perzine which was made during a virtual 24-hour zine event organised by Swansea Zine Fest.
  • Confined #3 – pandemic diary comic zine that includes interviews with creative friends who run God Save the Queer and MandApunk
  • Confined #4 – another issue of my pandemic diary comic zine

Order them by emailing me or via my webshop.

Some zines I’ve finished writing and designing that will be published in early 2022:

  • Witches’ Brew #2: amulets and pendants
  • Bunny Magick: Chainsaw Bunny’s guide to witchcraft
  • Do it yourself care: autumn blues
  • Queer Quest #1: queer quest for community – choose your own adventure
  • Do it yourself care: joyful girl – where I find joy
  • Echotopia #2: 20 years of Echo Zines

+ more to come soon!

Self-portrait of 2021

Every year I try to make at least 1 self-portrait so in this blogpost I’m revealing the one I made a few days ago for 2021. Tada!

It’s made with black marker (“alcoholstift”) and white gel pen on blue paper.

A little while ago I was also working on these felt self-portraits (during a vitual workshop by Seleena Laverne Daye). I should really finish them soon…

Creativity ritual for Yule & my zine anniversary

It’s the time of Yule and Winter Solstice so I thought it might be a good moment to share a little ritual or spell that I did a few weeks ago. In the last few months I’ve been binge-watching YouTube videos and reading piles of books and zines about witchcraft. I’m not entirely new to all-things-witchy – I have been fascinated with it since I was a teenager and more recently was inspired by my band mates as well as witchy zinester penpals and online friends (thank you! ❤ ). At the moment I’m especially interested in witchcraft that’s related to self-care and creativity but I’m also taking in lots of other witchy information. I’m sure I will continue blogging about it (f.e. sharing some of my favourite videos on this subject, I’ve already shared witchy zines, music, etc) and I’m definitely going to be making several zines about witchery!

My plans and dreams for 2021

It’s kind of weird to think about what I want to do in 2021 when it’s still unsure what the pandemic situation will be like and what the consequences will be. But a grrrl can dream (and it keeps me going). To be honest I am really lucky that a lot of my passions and occupations can be done at my home, like drawing, making zines, playing guitar, sewing… Even though it would be nice to be able to travel again next year, I admit the quietness of the lockdown was at times really welcome too. I’d like to keep some of that quietness but without any anxiety or risk of getting infected by or passing on a dangerous virus like covid-19…
