ZineWriMo 2022 part 2 – zine tools, workshop, grimoire, and how to support zinesters

Week 2 of ZineWriMo 2022 (Zine Writing Month) is almost over so here are some ziney and crafty things I did in the past 7 days: taking photos of my zine tools, teaching a feminist zine workshop, and working on my new art grimoire.

ZineWriMo 2022 part 1 – zine ideas, art grimoires, and where I find inspiration

In this blogpost, I’m sharing some creative projects that I worked on this week. For example there’s the ZineWriMo challenge (Zine Writing Month) in November. Even though I’m not following all the ZineWriMo prompts by Sea Green Zines, you should take a look at them because they are fun! Apart from zines, I’m going to show you what I made so far for the magickal grimoire / artjournal course by Molly Roberts

The magick of notebooks

Ok, I admit it, I’m a hoarder of notebooks, sketchbooks, and journals. But I do use them! And it’s also nice to have some not-yet-used options readily available in a box so I can choose from them for new projects instead of having to go out and buy a new one.

In this blogpost I’d like to show you some of my witchy notebooks and journals that are currently in use. I kind of feel like a kid working in these and I love it. Witchcraft opened up new creative opportunities for me that I’m very happy with. Since the pandemic I’ve used/filled about a dozen new sketchbooks/notebooks and the ones I started in the past 13 months are all witch-themed in some way. So let’s take a look…

Herbal walks – collecting Springtime herbs and flowers

Springtime is my favourite season, not only because of the weather – sunny but no heatwaves yet – but also because I love to see all the blossoms and flowers appearing everywhere… It feels like a fresh start and all that colour inspires my creativity and curiosity too. In this season I love walking around, looking around, and taking some plant samples home…

Simple DIY magick – 7 creative ideas for you to explore

For me, delving into DIY witch practices is connected to creativity and self-care. This is what attracts me to it and keeps me curious and exploring. In this blogpost I’d like to share some simple witchy things I’ve enjoyed doing and making lately that can be used to enhance your creativity or mental health but are also just fun to create or learn about.

A magickal beginning of the year

As you might have noticed when reading this blog, I’ve been in a big witchery mood for a few months now. While I’ve always been interested in witchcraft and the feminist image of witches (for example I grew up watching movies like The Craft, was always fascinated by books about wicca despite not being a spiritual person, and have participated in witch-themed feminist protests), this fascination is still growing. I also have some friends to thank (blame?) for that… you know who you are. 😉 And it seems like this increasing fascination is attracting lots of things towards it (should I call it magick??). Let’s start at the beginning…
