Postcard bundles & winter holiday cards

For me the winter holidays (or the summer holidays in the Southern hemisphere) are the ultimate postcard sending and receiving season. So I’ve prepared two postcard bundles you can send to your friends and family. They are both available in my webshop. In total I’ve created 16 postcards so far over the years. Let’s take a look at all the designs, bundles, and options:

I’m closing my webshop(s)…

Yes, I’m closing my Bandcamp webshop in a few days! You can still place an order until August 15th so hurry if there’s something you like. The Lavender Witch shop will close as well so be sure to check out our music and merch while you still can.

-> my Echo zines, postcards, witchy bundles, and Lost Luna music

-> Lavender Witch music and merch

After August 15th, the music of Lavender Witch and Lost Luna can still be listened to on Bandcamp but ordering our music (digital/CD), zine bundles, or merch will no longer be possible there. You can however always contact me in person to buy any of my zines, postcards, buttons, the Lavender Witch CD, and more.

I plan to start a new webshop for my zines soon but in the meantime you can email me to place an order (or suggest a trade).

Huge thanks to everyone who has supported my zine project, my solo project, and my band over the years in whichever way! You’re amazing! ❤

New self-care & feminist activism zine bundles in my webshop!

Pre-order: Confined #3 + #4 (quaranzines)

The pre-order for the new issues of Confined launched today! Scroll down for all the zines and DIY merch that’s available…

Confined is the title of the ongoing zine series of my lockdown diary comics in which I document my daily life and reflections during the covid-19 pandemic. They are a mix of a quaranzine, perzine, and comic zine. I started drawing the first issue in April 2020 and am releasing two new issues on September 14th. Today I’m launching the pre-order of issues #3 and #4 of Confined. These two the diary comic zines continue telling the story from August 2020 until July 2021. Issue #3 has some collages as well and #4 contains interviews with two amazing creative friends: Shei of God Save the Queer and Clémentine of MandApunk and Judith Judah.

The Confined series is one of the biggest zine projects I’ve ever done. If you count all the pages of the zines of this series that I’ve made so far together, it can become one big comic BOOK! I’ve never drawn that many comics / comic pages in such a short time but I feel an urgency to document everything that’s happening at the moment. This also means that this zine series is not done yet and there will be at least one more (5th) issue that I’m already working on, and maybe more.

The pre-order helps me to print the two new issues of Confined and to re-print the first issues. To fund this big project I’ve also created some extra surprises: one-of-a-kind hand-made pieces of embroidery and a zine-themed button set, and you can even acquire a test print of Confined #3 and #4 (for the real collectors among you)!

So… how can you get ahold of the zines and merch?

HOW TO PRE-ORDER:

You can pre-order in my Bandcamp webshop. When you order any Confined zines or merch on Bandcamp you will receive a download of my Lost Luna EP “Shadow Play” as well! The home-recording process of this EP is mentioned in the zines.

(You can also mail me if you prefer to order from me directly – each issue separately costs 3 euros + postage. This will not include the Lost Luna EP.)

The release date for the zines and merch is planned for September 14th!

International Zine Month 2021 – zine distros

During International Zine Month, we are encouraged to learn about and order zines from zine distros*. Stolen Sharpie Revolution invented three prompts to participate in throughout the month including one today:

  • on July 7th: “educate yourself about zine distros”
  • on July 19th: “zine distro appreciation day”
  • on July 23rd: “check out a zine distro you’ve never ordered from before”

*A distro is a DIY distribution project. They distribute zines (and/or music, patches, postcards, buttons, etc) made by other people so these DIY creations can reach a different or larger audience. Isn’t that great? Some distros sell their stuff at events (zine fests, punk shows, etc), a lot of them have an online shop, and some even a brick-and-mortar store!

I love these prompts – new zines! new zines! – and in the past years I have used them as an excuse to buy zines from American zine distros. The postage to Europe is so expensive and usually doubles the price, so I could’t do this often, but I allowed myself some luxury during International Zine Month. Now that the EU has introduced expensive and annoying VAT to pay on incoming mail from non-EU webshops I’m trying to focus my zine orders and trades inside the EU for a while (until I figure out how to avoid these fees…) but luckily there are zine distros everywhere, including in the EU.

There exist a lot of amazing zine distros and there might be some nearby where you live too. Here is a list of zine distros that I’ve heard of and that I encourage you to check out:
(If there are any distros that I didn’t include in the list, please mention them in the comments!)

Support your local (or less local) zinester

Do you value feminist alternative print media? Do you think zines should live forever? Read on… 🙂

Support is the key in the zine community!

From left to right: my zines and postcards, Lavender Witch buttons, Sister Ray Zines’ necklaces and zines, and Wayfaring Moon Apothecaries soaps and mini-zines.

Zines are a labour of love. They are meant to be non-profit. Zines should be accessible (that’s why I keep my prices low). But zinesters still have expenses that come with creating and distributing their publications. Glue sticks, pens, paper, printing costs, stamps, envelopes, travel expenses… are not free in this capitalist world – unfortunately.

I try to support other zinesters as much as I can. I mainly do this by buying (or trading for) their work and by shouting out about how great I think their zines are: f.e. in reviews. I also give zine workshops, encourage beginning zinesters, interview zine makers (in my zine Same Heartbeats), and donate my zines to zine libraries.  I’ve had the pleasure and honour of readers (often other zinesters) sharing images of my zines (and snail mail) on their social media, giving me very nice feedback, distributing or selling my zines for me, and mentioning my zines in their articles or books, which all absolutely make my day. These are just some ideas.

Without a mutually-supportive zine community zines would only exist as deserted islands, which would be pretty sad. That’s why I’d like to show you some ways in which you can help to sustain zine projects and help to grow the zine scene.

Reprint of From Spice Girls to Riot Grrrls

Recently I’ve printed, cut, folded, and bound new copies of the zine From Spice Girls to Riot Grrrls because it was completely sold-out! It’s clearly one of my most popular zines so far…

The zine talks about the evolution of my music taste (from the Spice Girls to riot grrrl, queercore, grunge, and punk bands), fandom, nostalgia, and more. Subjects that continue to keep my mind occupied and that I also wrote about in another zine called YngWHO? and in my ongoing zine series Same Heartbeats. I’ll probably keep writing about all of this… and I’m also always curious to hear your thoughts!
