ZineWriMo 2022 part 4 + overview – journaling, snail mail, and an ode to Mawy

Today is the last day of ZineWriMo 2022 (Zine Writing Month) so I’d like to take you along and show you the ziney and arty parts of my life in the last 1,5 week.

First some announcements though… This Saturday December 3rd you can visit the temporary zine library / reading corner at the birthday party of Pardon zine collective at De Koer in Ghent. Some of my zines will be there to read or to buy as well. The next day on Sunday the 4th I’ll be tableing with my zines, postcards, and more at the Go Local winter craft market at Meubelfabriek in Ghent together with Wayfaring Moon Apothecaries. Hope to see you there! (By the way you can also get my zines etc from my webshop).

Now back to ZineWriMo and the creative stuff I did last week:

IZM 2022 – July is International Zine Month starts today!

Hello and welcome to International Zine Month (IZM) 2022! Are you just as happy and excited as me that July has finally arrived to give us an excuse to do even more zine stuff? 😀

In today’s blogpost I want to set out my plans for this month. Not only do I want to participate as much as possible in IZM but I’m also taking part in the #witchyjournalchallenge. I think those two go together quite nicely. 🙂

My plans and dreams for 2022

All the usual new year’s resolutions are so uninteresting, don’t you think? I prefer to make a list of things I would really LIKE to do. How about you? What are your dreams and plans for 2022?

On the image above you can see a hand-made oracle deck that I created myself. I selected some cards that I think fit for the beginning of the new year: adventures, big dreams, exploring, finding magic everywhere, connecting with your community, colouring outside the lines (also a reference to a zine I love)… Find out more about my plans:

All the books I’ve read in 2021

My plan for 2021 was to read at least 21 books and I ended up reading 26. Yay! I know some people probably read double that amount or more but for me this was a very pleasing achievement. Besides, there are people who struggle to read any books at all for a variety of reasons so I’m happy I managed quite well.

When counting, I only included the books I’ve finished reading completely (but I may have started reading some of them before 2021). That includes comic books, children’s books, and cookbooks because, well, they are books. But I’ve also read poetry, a novel/memoir, a zine anthology, books about witchcraft, birds, bringing nature to balconies, and more…

All the zines I’ve published in 2021

The end of 2021 is nearby so I’m slowly writing my yearly overview blog posts. Here is the first one:

All the zines I’ve published in 2021:

Lost Luna Zine #1 – an introductionary mini-zine for my solo music project Lost Luna that talks about taking back space and things to do as a musician in lockdown (because when you’re a creative person / doing creative work, surely you can find creative solutions for situations like this).

  • Lost Luna Zine #2 – mini-zine with the lyrics and being-the-song stories of Lost Luna’s debut EP “Shadow Play”.
  • Lost Luna Zine #3 – mini-zine with recommended bands and artists who’ve been inspiring me when home-recording my music.
  • Same Heartbeats #18 – the newest issue of my feminist perzine which was made during a virtual 24-hour zine event organised by Swansea Zine Fest.
  • Confined #3 – pandemic diary comic zine that includes interviews with creative friends who run God Save the Queer and MandApunk
  • Confined #4 – another issue of my pandemic diary comic zine

Order them by emailing me or via my webshop.

Some zines I’ve finished writing and designing that will be published in early 2022:

  • Witches’ Brew #2: amulets and pendants
  • Bunny Magick: Chainsaw Bunny’s guide to witchcraft
  • Do it yourself care: autumn blues
  • Queer Quest #1: queer quest for community – choose your own adventure
