Easy DIY idea for displaying mini-zines

I’ve been breaking my head for years about cheap or easy-to-make-myself and light-weight constructions to display zines and postcards on my table at zine fests and craft fairs. Laying them all flat is fine but takes a lot of space and building a more 3D table looks quite appealing too I think.

So then a few days ago I came up with this…

Virtual Portland Zine Symposium 2021 – my virtual zine table

Zines, mini-zines and postcards displayed on yellow fabric. Zine titles are Do it yourself care, Yngwho, Same Heartbeats, Scissors & Chainsaws, Space Invasion, This Bunny Kills Fascists, From Spice Girls to Riot Grrrls, and Witches' Brew.

It’s Portland Zine Symposium this weekend and because of the ongoing pandemic it’s taking place online. But that has the advantage that more people can attend and participate! Like me!

So tomorrow I’m going to take a few of Portland Zine Symposium’s virtual workshops and during the entire weekend I will be “tableing”. Are you curious to see my virtual zine table? You can find all my zines in my zine catalogue and I have a few zine bundles in my webshop too.

Contact me by email if you’re interested or if you have questions. 🙂

By the way, at the moment I have these special surprise bags available (More info):

Here are a few more photos of my virtual zine table: (Scroll down to know how YOU can table too!)

Coming soon: Queer Zest Zine Fest (virtual!)

Queer Zest Zine Fest is happening this summer! Don’t miss it! It’s virtual and I’m super happy to be tableing there with my zines. The fest takes place on August 7th-8th but you can already find them online.

More info: QZZF’s website

Today’s International Zine Month prompt is to look up virtual zine events to attend in the near future so voila! Which virtual zine events are you planning to “go” to? Any recommendations for this summer?

So now I’m going to relax and read some zines (been doing well so far with my read-at-least-one-zine-a-day goal) and I’ll leave you here with a photo with some of the zines and postcards I will be selling at Queer Zest Zine Fest (get in touch if you’re interested in any of them):

Snail Mail Zine Fair Catalog

Because zine fests can’t happen during the covid-19 pandemic, a lot of organisers thought about online alternatives. San Anto Zine Fest brings you the Snail Mail Zine Fair with its own virtual catalogue:

SAZF is a community zine festival organized by five woc in San Antonio, Texas. Since 2017, we have made space for local and national creatives to share their art, meet other zinesters, and celebrate DIY culture. This year, due to the need for a safe fest, we curated an online catalog instead of our annual in-person event. It is important to us that we continue the DIY tradition of making the best of what you have and overcoming obstacles to continue to create. We are so happy to join the international zine community that has used those guiding principles to adapt to our current circumstances and still find new and creative ways to share zines.

Follow the link below to see the catalog on ISSU. Contact the zine makers through the information in the description to order directly from them. We will not be handling any orders and accept no responsibility for any zines lost or delayed due to the holiday gift rush. Please allow extra time for international zine shipping. Please share with your friends and keep making zines!

Thank you so much to all our contributors, our awesome community that has supported us through the years, and to you! Thank you for being with us for SAZF 2020! Everybody stay safe and cozy this winter, we’ll be back in person as soon as we can.

I’m participating too and my zines are mentioned in the catalog of Snail Mail Zine Fairtake a look and spread the word!
